Dr. Guy Raphaeli, expert in neurology and intereventional neuroradiology, is a stroke neurologist and intereventional neuroradiologist at Rabin Medical Center – Campus Beilinson in Petach Tikva since 2010. On 2020 he was appointed as a director of the stroke unit. Dr. Raphaeli treats all neurological diseases, with an emphasis on cerebrovascular diseases (stroke, narrowing of the carotid and cerebral arteries, brain aneurysm or vascular malformation), also in his clinic at Ramat Hachayal in Tel-Aviv (Angiocentre clinic).
Academic background and professional training
Dr. Raphaeli is a graduate of the Biological-Chemical Department at High School in Haifa (1987) . He accomplished his doctorate in medicine (M.D.) and a graduate of the Technion – Institute of technology in Haifa since 2001. He specialized in neurology at Hadassah Ein Kerem University Center during 2001-2006.
In 2008 he went to be trained abroad. First in Paris for 7 months at Bichat Claude Bernard Hospital where he majored in vascular neurology (cerebrovascular disease) with an emphasis on treating stroke by invasive endovascular approach (brain catheterization). At the same time he performed laboratory work on animal stroke model in INSERM 698 laboratory in Paris.
Dr. Raphaeli then completed two more years (2009-2010) in brain catheterization at one of Europe's leading centers in this field in ULB ERASMUS hospital,Brussels, Belgium. During his training he acquired high technical skills to treat a variety of cerebrovascular diseases, such as repair and closure of cerebral aneurysms using coils, closure of complex aneurysms using stent or balloon combined with coils (Remodeling technique), use of flow-diverters. In addition, he began his first steps in the embolization (injection of biological glue) of cerebral arterial-venous malformations and spinal cord, as well as diagnostic catheterizations in the brain and spinal cord. At the end of his training, he joined Rabin Medical Center, and has since successfully treated hundreds of patients.
Dr. Raphaeli is member of several international medical associations, including American Heart association (AHA) , Society of vascular interventional neurologist (SVIN), and European Society of Minimal Invasive Neurological Therapy (ESMINT)
